FAQs:
Q: What instruments do you teach at Belmont Music Studio?
A: We teach a multitude of instruments here at BMS: Acoustic Guitar, Electric Guitar, Piano, Drums/Percussion, Violin, Viola, Cello, Upright Bass, Electric Bass, Ukulele, Banjo, Mandolin, Clarinet, Saxophone, Flute, French Horn, Trumpet, Bassoon, Oboe, Audio Engineering and Composition/Songwriting.
Q: How young can I start my child in music?
A: We have TOT classes that are geared to 2-5 year olds. These private lessons are 20 minute basic music introduction classes that are student lead and student focused. They introduce music literacy via the exploration of rhythm and sound utilizing the available instruments in the studio including voice, ukulele, piano and drums. This is a great program for younger students to gain a basic foundation of music.
Q: Does my child need an instrument to start the lessons?
A: Not necessarily. The studio has pianos, drum kits, electric bass, electric and acoustic guitars, and ukuleles that are available for in lesson use. We do suggest all students have an instrument of their own soon after starting so they can practice at home. This ensures progression week to week.
Q: How does tuition work?
A: Tuition is automatically billed on the last lesson day of the month for the following month. We bill according to how many lessons are scheduled for the month, which can vary from 4-5 depending on the calendar month. Please see our full fee schedule under the "lessons" tab.
Q: How are lessons scheduled?
A: Lessons are scheduled once a week, same time, same instructor each week (we will provide a substitute if your instructor is unavailable).
Q: What happens if I need to take a month or so break from lessons?
A: We require a 30 day written notice before a planned break to ensure a hold is placed on your auto pay account. If there are any lessons paid for, but not yet taken, at the time of your break we will keep a record of those for you to use when you come back.
Q: What happens if I need to stop my lessons for an undetermined amount of time?
A: As long as you give a written notice 30 days prior to ending the lessons, we will be able to put a stop payment on your auto pay account and you will not be billed for the next month.
Q: What happens if I don’t tell you until the middle of the month and I still have a couple lessons left that I already paid for, can I get a refund?
A: We are sorry, but no. We need to make sure all of the lessons paid for are taken. This ensures stability for our instructors.
Q: What is the $70 enrollment fee for?
A: This administrative fee helps with overhead, our scheduling software, and solidifies your commitment. It helps us continually improve the technology that your children will be playing on/with.
Q: What is your cancellation/make-up policy?
A: We require 24 hour notice for a lesson to be canceled and not be considered a forfeit. Students may schedule Make-up lessons with their regular instructor, or other instructors, available in the studio.
